My friend James asked if I would help with his photos for the album he’s about to release. It’s his debut album, which is exceptionally good for a first album. It didn’t take much to sell me on doing the photos for him. We still have a lot more to do, but here are the ones I’ve selected from the first shoot to share.
You may notice that you can’t see his face in most of the photos or that he’s smaller in the photo than most people would put their subject. We did that on purpose. The theme for the photos is for him to seem smaller among something bigger than himself, or to be out of the lime-light, or to be “hidden” in a sense. When we discussed ideas about what to do, that was what he wanted. He also wants the majority of these to go along with the idea of “seeing” and “clarity,” hence, the album name. Though there will be a few photos here and there throughout the project that break those overlaying ideas, most of them will fall into those two ideas.
I’ll continue to post more photos as the time gets closer for the album to release.
A little about his album:
It’s got a pop/rock flavor with indie, gospel, and hints of reggae. The album is masterfully produced as one continuous sound. Though the styles change, it blends together so well that it will leave you questioning where the last track ended and the new one began. It tells a subtly tells a story from the beginning to the end, and you if pick up on it, it’s a beautiful narrative.

Thanks for reading and checking out the photos! Don’t forget to check out “Clarity” in September!
